3rd Annual Harvest Party

We have some sad news: we are going to cancel our Harvest Party this year. We did not reach the minimum ticket sales needed to make the event financially feasible.

This was a really tough call! We know that some folks may have been planning to come day-of, and there is always a chance that the event would have come together in the end. But given the amount of work involved and the financial stretch required to make it happen, we ultimately decided that it was not the right choice for VIGA this year.

We are bummed because we really love this event. It's fun to have a space to connect with the farms and growers that make Vashon such a special place and watch Doug whip around the property on his sweet little tractor rides. We hope that not having the Harvest Party this year does not mean it goes away for good.

We already have some ideas for how we might approach it differently next year. Ideally finding funding to make it a free community event, while still creating meaningful opportunities to celebrate and engage with growing and food on the island. There are also opportunities to collaborate with other organizations whose missions align with ours, which could help share the work, resources, and costs at a time when we know everyone is feeling the strain of Event Fatigue. We have planned extra work sessions this winter to take a deeper look at our events, funding, partnerships, and where collaboration makes sense. 

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets, helped spread the word, or simply looked forward to coming. Thank you to everyone who offered their time to volunteer - especially Barb and Doug of Farmstad. We are really sorry that we won't be gathering for the Harvest Party this year, and we hope you'll stick with us as we figure out what comes next. We will reach out to ticket holders separately for refunds and plan to re-invest the money we would have spent on the event to support our programming.
