VIGA Farm Friend
VIGA Farm Friend is an SMS-based coordination system that helps Vashon farms keep their farmstand inventory up to date, while giving islanders a quick way to find out what’s available across the island.
Farm Friend Vashon is operated by the Vashon Island Growers Association (VIGA) to keep the VIGA
farm-stand map fresh and useful. Farm Friend lets participating Vashon farmers update their farm
stand listings by SMS, helps community members ask about local farm-stand availability, and lets
customers report a likely stock-out so the farmer can review it.
Farm Friend Vashon messages are operational. They may include farmer onboarding texts, inventory
update confirmations, prompts to confirm or revise a farm-stand listing, customer inquiry replies,
stock-out report alerts to farmers, and related help or opt-out messages.
To request Farm Friend Vashon SMS access, text JOIN to +1 206-864-5326 (206-86-GLEAN).
By texting JOIN, you agree to receive SMS messages from Farm Friend Vashon about VIGA farm-stand
listings, farm-stand inventory updates, produce availability inquiries, and stock-out reports on
Vashon Island. Message frequency varies based on farm activity and your use of the service,
usually 0-6 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of
purchase or participation. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.
VIGA may review and approve a subscriber before Farm Friend Vashon sends operational messages.
Farmers may also opt in during VIGA onboarding in person or by phone, where VIGA records how and
when SMS consent was received before sending any proactive SMS.
Your mobile opt-in information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or
marketing purposes.
Example Messages
- Farm Friend Vashon: Tian Tian currently lists kale, bok choy, and tomatoes on the VIGA farm-stand
map. Reply YES if still right, or text changes.
- Farm Friend Vashon: Update for Provo Farms: kale, eggs, tomatoes, and limited strawberries.
Reply YES to publish to the VIGA farm-stand map or NO to cancel.
- Farm Friend Vashon: A customer reported Plum Forest may be out of kale. Reply OUT to mark it out,
IGNORE to dismiss, or STOP to unsubscribe.
